Guest faculty: Melynnie Williams
Melynnie is a second-generation barbershopper. She has risen through the ranks quickly to become a respected director, coach, competitor (bass of the 2010 International Queens of Harmony ZING!), and educational leader. She is one of the most positive role models in the Sweet Adelines organization.
Melynnie serves on the SAI Membership Retention Committee, which is deeply engaged in and provides intense membership retention support for choruses worldwide. In addition, she is the Region 25 Education Coordinator, on the Region 25 Education Steering Committee, and a member of the Region 25 Educational Faculty.
Melynnie is Master Director of the Wichita (KS) Chorus:2024 Region 25 1st Place Division A Chorus; 3rd place overall2023 Region 25 1st Place Division A Chorus; 3rd place overall2019 Harmony Classic 3rd Place Division A (New Orleans)2017 Harmony Classic 2nd Place Division A (Las Vegas)
Workshop HighlightsClasses from Melynnie on Membership Retention & Growth!
Build music and performance skills. All participants sing the NEW Region 8 song "You've Got a Friend In Me" in a chorus directed by Melynnie.
Breakout sessions/classes on various topics including marketing, membership, directors, musical leaders, goal setting, developing a chorus plan, the history of barbershop, SAI resources, and vocal production.

Learning Tracks provided by Region 8 to members (must login). Memorization provided by YOU! Arrive at the workshop with the song learned and ready to perform/coach.Why doesn't the Region purchase regional music for everyone? Pretty much it's a copyright thing. Gone are the days of just handing out music. We have to pay for inventory and track each copy of music provided to members. Since music inventory already exists somewhere else, such as Sweet Adelines International or Sheet Music Plus or any of the other online places that warehouse copyrighted music, it made sense to have members go to the source. For this particular song, it's Barbershop Harmony Society.
